Church Street runs off Market Hill, the main square in Orford. Orford packs quite a punch for a small village and benefits from two fine public houses (The Jolly Sailor & The King’s Head), a smokery (Pinneys), school, two well-known restaurants (The Butley Oysterage and The Crown & Castle) as well as a thriving village shop, a butcher, a farmers’ market, a newsagent and not to mention the rather fabulous Pump Street Bakery. The close proximity to the river allows the opportunity to pursue a wide variety of water sports and Orford is particularly well known for sailing. The National Nature Reserves of Orford Ness and Havergate Island are situated in the River Ore just to the southeast of the village, renowned for its bird life. Orford is an extremely attractive village situated on the River Ore with a popular 12th century castle, a church which was used by Benjamin Britten for premieres and performances of some of his works including his Church Parables. There are 18-hole golf courses at Woodbridge and Aldeburgh.
Please note that the neighbour also accesses the garden area.

We had a lovely stay - the cottage was in a great location, it was well equipped and clean.

Beautiful cottage, right in the heart of the village yet still had easy parking, and your own private garden to sit in. All mod cons and amenities for comfortable stay. Comfortable bed, good shower, and quiet at night. Location is perfect - walkable to amenities, pubs, the Quay and other walking trails. Easy to get to other surrounding villages too. Very communicative host throughout. Highly recommend!

Orford is a charming coastal village with a friendly atmosphere and it’s within easy driving distance of other places well worth a visit such as Aldeburgh. The cottage has character and is well equipped (we couldn’t find any eggcups though?). The bed was comfortable too. We enjoyed our short stay (2 nights).

Charming cottage in a perfect location!” We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful one-bedroom cottage, which was full of character and charm. It was spotlessly clean, and the thoughtful personal touches — tea, coffee and toiletries provided — made us feel instantly at home. The location is just ideal for exploring everything Orford has to offer. We visited Orford Castle and will return to visit Orford Ness, and enjoyed some lovely meals and a few pints in the local pubs. Everything was within easy reach. A really comfortable and memorable stay — we would highly recommend this cottage to anyone looking to explore this gorgeous corner of Suffolk!

Had a lovely 2 night stay here, some fantastic trails for running or walking straight out of Orford. Also great pubs & cafe in Orford. The house is lovely, parking was easy & Robin was a great host.

Lovely cottage in a great location. Very nicely presented and comfortable. The log burner and the plentiful supply of logs was very welcome on a cold weekend. We would highly recommend and hope to visit again.

Absolutely lovely weekend at Robin Alan’s cottage. It is perfect for a weekend away or even longer. Everything is walkable and Orford of is a great town. I high recommend.

The cottage was well equipped, especially lovely find a selection of milks in the fridge. Lovely and warm with nice touches of a ready to light fire and plenty of blankets. Beautifully situated and communication with Robin was easy. Would definatley stay again.

Had a wonderful stay over the New Year period, very peaceful and restorative.
